Gable Loft Conversions

Gable loft conversions or hip to gable loft conversions as they are sometimes called. These are some of the most common types used in semi-detached or end of terraced properties as they fit this property well.

Hipped roofs can be slightly more difficult to convert compared to mid terraced (gable) lofts. This is because in an un-modified state, the hip or hips restrict the usable floor area of the conversion. To facilitate the building of the dormer we build a new gable wall (hence the name hip to gable) this allows for more head height and ultimately makes the new loft a more use-able space.

The gable can either be built for masonry and rendered/pebble dashed or built from stud work and finished with tiles or slates to match the new dormer. Hipped to gable lofts usually allow enough space for a bedroom and en-suite.
