Kitchens – whats on trend for 2019 in North London, Enfield and East Finchley

We often think of the kitchen as the heart of a home – it’s where the day’s plans are made over breakfast and the night’s feasting happens by the light of the open fridge. It’s where the kids do their homework and get in the way of dinner preparations, and it’s where you always seem to end up at parties (maybe that’s just because it’s where the wine is being chilled!). So, changing your kitchen is not only considered a costly experience, but an emotional one as well, which makes it all the more important to get it right, to restyle your kitchen to both suit your lifestyle and to be on trend.

We’ve put together a few of the trends for kitchens in 2019 that we’ve seen out there backed up with a little fashion/interior design research.

Make some shapes

1. Flooring doesn’t have to be boring
Strong geometric patterns in bold dual colours are in. Make a statement with your kitchen flooring. No more curling vinyl or fake wood strips, traditional tile patterns are back.
2. Shelving, cubed
Where the most stylish of industrial kitchens meets installation artwork. Open, grid-like suspended shelving or cubbyhole storage spaces means less need for wall units and creates the illusion of a more spacious room.

Play with materials

1. Copper is still in
The subtle shimmer of copper in a kitchen can transform it into something spectacular. Don’t go overboard, but on accessories and trims copper can add an element of chic.
2. Classic, chic stone
If you love a neutral palette, then stone, or even faux stone, could be a great option for you, and if you want to go for a classic look with a quirky twist, add in some different shapes. You can even take the ever-popular butler sink to the next level with a touch of marble.

On-trend equipment

1. Keep it hidden
Extractor fans are ugly things and no matter how stylishly they’re redesigned they stand out like a sore thumb. That’s why the trend of 2019 is for near on invisible extractors, fitted flush to ceilings. Imagine all that extra space above hobs you’ll have to play with now.
2. Stay chilled
Imagine the scene… you’ve friends over for dinner – do you go to the fridge to get out a bottle of white or under the stairs for that red you’ve been saving? No of course not, this is 2019, you’ll have a full length, built-in wine conditioning unit with different temperature zones for different wines.

So, is it time to keep to the traditional or to add a touch of something ultra-modern to your kitchen? From flooring to cabinets, once you know what you would like to revitalise this beating heart at the centre of your home, be sure to let your builder know, so they can make your dream kitchen a reality.
