Our favourite new development in your area this month is… Kensington Place in Muswell Hill

With its regal sounding name and leafy north London location, Kensington Place in Muswell Hill starts off on the right foot. This small new development of six detached three and four-bedroom contemporary homes caught our eye because of its uniqueness in what is predominantly an area of Victorian/Edwardian homes. Here is a luxury gated development in a prestigious London suburb, which, while respectful of the character of the local area, also goes its own way with clean lines, angular bays and lots of sun-loving glazing to let the warmth in.

Muswell Hill

Although only sparsely populated until the 20th century, the area of Muswell Hill has been the destination of many a pilgrimage (literally) for hundreds of years as its spring ‘Mossy Well’ was said to have healing properties and the land was owned by the church from the 12th century onwards. Wealthy merchants and professional people built their residences on the tops of the many hills from Tudor times onwards so they could look out over London. The creation of Alexander Palace in the late 19th century brought with it a railway line and new residential estates. While some older properties remain, the majority of the area’s property stocks were constructed from the 1890s onwards.

A touch of class

Today Muswell Hill is a bustling London suburb with good train and bus links into the capital, but it retains its connection with its past with its parks and woodland. Kensington Place is a stone’s throw from the cinema, boutiques and cafés of the town centre. It is opposite the 196-acre Alexandra Park with its palace on top of the hill, a short walk from Queens Wood and around a 20-minute walk from Highgate Wood with its winding paths just waiting for you to explore, no matter the season.

The homes themselves are modern, stylish and contain numerous exciting features such as vaulted ceilings, integrated Blaupunkt audio systems, engineered wood flooring and luscious quartz worktops.

The available plot is #3, arguably the most interesting because of its layout. This is a 3-bed detached, approximately 1,399 sq.ft in size, being sold right now on Rightmove for £1,395,000. This home has been designed for modern living, with a sizeable kitchen-living room, flowing out into a dining room, a formal lounge and a separate study. All three bedrooms are of a decent size, one with an en suite and a family bathroom located between the other two. One exciting feature is the spiral staircase that transports you between floors, a quirky talking point for when you have guests over (when that’s once again allowed). The staircase rises within an angled bay which stretches from ground to roof to flood the entire home with natural light and large floor to ceiling windows are a wonderful addition to this property.

If this property in Kensington Place, Muswell Hill, is for you, or if you find your dream home elsewhere, before you sell your place, call us in so we can help you to do what’s needed to ensure that you get the best price possible for it. Remember, the more you sell for the more you can spend on your new home.
